flowers from Japan

Anyone who knows me, knows that I have something of an obsession when it comes to Japanese aesthetics & culture. Hopefully this page will serve as a scrapbook for me to put some thoughts about Japan & a few beautiful Japanese images & words all in one place. I hope each post will be like a little flower that blooms, bringing with it the beautiful scent of Japan:

"We have attempted to speak in the language of flowers. How could we live without them? It frightens one to consider a world bereft of their presence. What solace do they not bring to the bedside of the sick, what a light of bliss to the darkness of weary spirits? Their serene tenderness restores our weary confidence in the universe even as the intent gaze of a beautiful child recalls our lost hopes."
Kakuzo Okakura - The Book of Tea, 1906
